Hogla grass, also known as Southern cattail, is a tall
aquatic plant that typically grows in clusters and can reach heights of up to 3
meters. It is commonly found in the Sundarbans and other wetlands along the
banks of rivers and canals in Bangladesh. Hogla grass is valued for its
versatility, as it is used to make various products such as baskets, mats, and
ropes. The plant is propagated by seeds and can be harvested for its fibrous
roots, which help hold soil in place.
